Roof repairs
Matching replacement roof tiles
A repair tile needs to suit the existing covering. Profile, dimensions, fixing and weathering all belong in the comparison. For Isle of Wight homes.
Updated
One new tile can stand out on a weathered roof even when it is the appropriate replacement. Colour is the most visible part of the decision, but the fit and suitability of the covering matter to the repair itself.
A photograph may help identify the existing roof type. It cannot always distinguish products that look similar at a distance or show the details needed to confirm compatibility.
Describe the existing covering accurately
Share any known product records, spare-tile information or previous repair invoices with WWR Roofing. If a loose piece has fallen safely to the ground, a photograph can be useful; do not climb onto the roof to obtain a sample.
Avoid assuming that every tile on the property is identical. Extensions and earlier repairs may use different products, so identify the roof section concerned.
Separate a colour match from a suitable repair
The replacement needs to work with the existing profile, dimensions and fixing arrangement. A close visual match does not establish those details. Where the original product is unavailable, the proposed alternative should be explained before the work is agreed.
Natural weathering may leave a new unit visibly different at first. The expected finish should be discussed honestly, particularly on a prominent slope, without promising an exact appearance match over time.
Define the extent of replacement
A proposal might cover one damaged unit or a wider local area needed to form a suitable repair. The quotation should make that distinction clear and explain associated work rather than allowing the number of visible gaps to become the whole specification.
Contact our roof repairs service about damaged coverings. The guide to slipped and broken tiles looks at the condition and fixing questions alongside the material choice.
