Gutter cleaning

Wall staining below gutters

A mark beneath the roofline needs observation of the gutter, joints and outlets before the repair scope is chosen. For Isle of Wight homes.

A dark streak below a gutter can remain long after the rain stops. It may draw attention to the roofline, but the stain alone cannot establish the current source of water or prove that a particular joint has failed.

Cleaning the wall may improve its appearance while leaving the underlying enquiry unanswered. Record the location and observe what happens during rainfall from a safe position before the evidence is lost.

Connect the mark with the roofline above

Note whether the stain sits below a joint, outlet, corner or length of gutter. Include a wider photograph showing the wall and relevant run. Separate an old mark from water actively appearing now.

When contacting WWR Roofing, mention any recent gutter cleaning, repair or building work. That history can help distinguish a continuing symptom from a mark left by an earlier problem.

Let the findings determine the work

Accumulated debris may call for cleaning; a damaged fitting may need repair. Water seen behind the gutter can bring the roof edge into the assessment. The proposal should explain the relevant finding rather than automatically select one of these scopes.

Avoid assuming that every stain is caused by the roofline. If the assessment points elsewhere, retain that finding so the next enquiry starts with useful information.

Plan finishing work after the cause is understood

Keep the maintenance record and note whether fresh staining or water movement recurs. Any cleaning or redecoration of the wall should be considered separately, with a method suitable for the surface.

Use our gutter cleaning service for a maintenance enquiry. Read leaking gutter joints where the observation points to a connection, or the roof-to-gutter junction where water appears behind the run.
