Gutter cleaning

Concealed and box gutters

A hidden rainwater channel needs a clear access and inspection scope, with its outlets and surrounding roof details identified. For Isle of Wight homes.

Some rainwater channels sit behind a parapet or between roof sections rather than hanging visibly along the eaves. Their condition can be difficult to judge from the ground, and a clean-looking external roofline may reveal little about them.

A maintenance enquiry should identify the concealed area and any known overflow or internal leak. It should not assume the channel has been checked during an earlier clean of ordinary external gutters.

Bring existing records into the discussion

Plans, photographs from previous professional work and maintenance invoices can help explain the arrangement. Share them with WWR Roofing where available. Keep uncertain details clearly labelled instead of guessing the route beneath a hidden roof section.

Do not walk onto the roof to locate an outlet or clear a channel yourself. The access plan needs to suit the construction and the task.

Separate clearing from condition assessment

Removing debris is different from assessing the lining, junctions and connected outlets. The scope should state which activities are included and what remains outside the visit.

If water entry prompted the enquiry, the relevant roof details need consideration alongside the channel. A blockage may be one finding without establishing that every part of the surrounding construction is sound.

Keep an identifiable completion record

Photographs should show the channel’s location and the areas attended, where they can be supplied safely. Retain any limitation on access and any recommendation for further work. This is particularly valuable where the homeowner cannot see the completed area.

Our gutter cleaning service is a starting point for discussing the maintenance scope. Where the finding involves a roofing defect, our roof repairs service provides the related enquiry route.
