Roof maintenance
Roof maintenance before going away
Review unresolved leaks, gutters and contact arrangements before leaving the property, without attempting a last-minute roof inspection. For Isle of Wight homes.
Updated
Preparing to leave a property for a while is a useful prompt to review known roof concerns. An unresolved leak or recurring gutter overflow deserves attention before the day of departure, when there may be little time for assessment or planned work.
The aim is to address information already available and organise a sensible contact arrangement. It is not to declare the roof fault-free after a quick look from the driveway.
Review outstanding recommendations
Check the last roof or gutter record and identify work that was recommended but not completed. Keep quotations separate from invoices and completion evidence. If a symptom has returned, note the date and location.
Contact WWR Roofing with that history while there is time to discuss the scope and practical arrangements. A planned trip does not establish that work can be completed within a particular period, so confirm availability directly.
Keep observations safe and proportionate
Look for visible changes from a safe ground-level position. Do not climb onto the roof or use departure as a reason to undertake hurried DIY work. A concealed area remains unassessed simply because no problem is visible from below.
Include known gutter trouble in the review. The gutter maintenance timing guide explains why recurring debris or overflow can be more useful than a fixed calendar rule.
Arrange a clear contact route
Where someone will check the property, make sure they know how to reach the responsible person and report a concern safely. Keep access and security details within the agreed private arrangements.
Our roofing services page provides the enquiry routes for planned work. The guide to leaks at an empty property covers the information needed if an urgent problem is discovered while the owner is away.
