Water appearing around a ceiling light changes the immediate priorities of a roof leak. The fitting and nearby electrical equipment should not be touched or approached to test whether they still work. Keep people away from the affected area and obtain urgent advice from a qualified electrician.

A roofer can investigate the external water entry, but that does not establish that the electrical installation is safe. The two concerns need to remain separate in the response.

Avoid creating another risk

Do not place a container, move furniture or take a photograph if doing so brings you close to wet fittings or an unstable ceiling. Do not operate switches in the affected area. If people face immediate danger, contact the emergency services.

Leave decisions about electrical isolation to appropriate professional advice where access or safety is uncertain. A roof enquiry should not delay action on an immediate hazard.

Give the roofing enquiry useful information

Tell WWR Roofing the room involved, where water appears and whether it is continuing. Include any known roof type or previous leak history, without climbing onto the roof or entering an unsafe loft for more detail.

State clearly that electrics are involved. Keep a current contact number available and record the agreed next step and any separate electrical attendance.

Keep follow-up responsibilities clear

After roofing work, retain the findings and any outstanding recommendations. The end of visible dripping is not confirmation that electrical fittings are safe or that a ceiling is ready for redecoration. Appropriate checks and drying may still be needed.

Our emergency roof repairs page provides the roofing contact routes. The sudden roof leak guide covers the wider indoor priorities while help is being arranged.
