Emergency roof repairs

A leak after temporary roof protection

A temporary measure has a defined purpose and limits. New water entry needs a fresh report and a clear follow-up plan. For Isle of Wight homes.

Temporary roof protection can be one stage of an urgent response while fuller assessment or permanent work is arranged. If water appears again, report the change promptly rather than assuming it is covered by the original description of the problem.

A new drip may be at the same location or somewhere different. That distinction matters to the follow-up enquiry and should be recorded without attempting to adjust anything on the roof yourself.

Refer to the first attendance record

Keep the date, work description and any stated limitations available. Note which areas could be inspected and what follow-up was recommended. A general recollection that the roof was repaired can conceal the fact that only temporary work was agreed.

When contacting WWR Roofing, explain what has changed since the earlier visit and whether the conditions are different. Share safe photographs with dates where possible.

Keep people clear of renewed hazards

Water near electrics, a bulging ceiling or loose material needs appropriate urgent attention. Do not climb onto the roof to reposition a cover, tighten a fixing or test a patch. Conditions and access still need professional assessment.

If there is an immediate threat to life, seek emergency assistance rather than wait for a roofing appointment.

Confirm the permanent next step

Establish who will arrange further investigation or work, the proposed scope and how timing will be confirmed. Weather, access and the condition found can affect the programme, so retain the current agreement rather than relying on an earlier provisional date.

Our emergency roof repairs page provides the enquiry route. Read temporary and permanent repairs for the records that help keep both stages clear through to final completion.
