Leadwork
Leadwork repair costs
Access, the weathering detail and associated roofing or masonry work all affect a leadwork quotation. For Isle of Wight homes.
Updated
The price of a lead repair cannot be reduced to the size of a visible strip of metal. Reaching the detail, lifting surrounding coverings and forming a suitable replacement can make the complete scope quite different from a material-only comparison.
A WWR Roofing enquiry should identify the location, symptoms and any previous work. Those details help the discussion begin with the roof junction rather than an assumed quantity of lead.
Describe the work around the lead
A valley, wall flashing and chimney detail are different applications. Establish which one is involved and whether the proposal is a local repair or wider renewal.
The quote should explain any tiles, slates or masonry that must be disturbed and made good. If several roof defects are included, keep their locations and purposes distinct so the total remains understandable.
Include access and concealed uncertainty
Scaffolding or another access arrangement may be needed even for a small detail. The height and position of the work affect that decision. A price comparison that omits access does not describe the full job.
Where the condition beneath the covering is unknown, agree how further findings will be recorded and priced. A provisional allowance should have a clear purpose rather than function as an unexplained extra.
Compare specifications and final amounts
Retain the proposed material description, dimensions relevant to the work and associated details. A thicker material alone is not a complete explanation of suitability. Confirm VAT treatment, waste arrangements and exclusions alongside the price.
Our leadwork service provides the enquiry route. The guide to lead codes and thickness explains one part of a specification, while flashing at roof junctions covers the wider repair context.
