Stripping the existing plain tiles
The first aerial view shows the original red plain tiles across the hipped roof. Hip and ridge tiles mark the junctions between the slopes, with a conservatory and lower flat roof alongside the house.
During stripping, the closely spaced existing battens become visible beneath the plain tiles. The photographs show this work progressing one section at a time, with tiles still in place on adjacent slopes.
Breathable membrane and new tile battens
The prepared slope has a blue breathable roofing membrane beneath new horizontal timber tile battens. The membrane laps and the batten runs are visible from the eaves towards the ridge.
The overhead views show three stages together: remaining plain tiles, an exposed slope with its old battens, and the section with new membrane and battens ready for tiling. These photographs record preparation before the replacement roof tiles are laid.
