Roof moss removal
Preparing for roof moss removal
Agree access, protection of nearby surfaces and debris arrangements before roof cleaning work begins. For Isle of Wight homes.
Updated
Roof moss removal involves more than the surface overhead. Access equipment, collected debris and nearby windows, planting or vehicles all belong in the preparation. A clear discussion before the visit helps establish where the work can take place and what needs to be protected.
Preparation should follow the method proposed for the actual roof. There is little value in moving items around the garden before the access and working areas have been agreed.
Identify the spaces below the work
Tell WWR Roofing about conservatories, rooflights, delicate paving, water features and planted areas near the affected slopes. Mention pets and entrances that need to remain usable. These details help describe the setting without assuming a particular treatment will be suitable.
Confirm which belongings or vehicles should be moved and who will do that. Keep people clear of working areas once the agreed arrangements are in place.
Include the collection and removal of debris
The scope should explain how dislodged material will be managed and whether affected gutters and outlets are included. A clean roof surface is an incomplete description of completion if debris handling remains unclear.
If a treatment product is proposed, establish the relevant protection and handling arrangements before application. Avoid carrying out a small test yourself or buying a product in advance of the roof assessment.
Agree the condition record
Photographs of nearby surfaces and existing roofline issues can provide a useful shared starting point. Keep those observations factual, with the location and date, rather than relying on memory after the work.
Use our roof moss removal page to discuss the property and access. The moss removal quotation guide explains how preparation, method and completion should fit into one clearly described job.
