Fascias, soffits and guttering
Bargeboards and fascias
Identify the affected roof edge before planning repairs to fascia, bargeboards or the surrounding roofline. For Isle of Wight homes.
Updated
Bargeboards and fascias can share the same colour and finish while occupying different parts of a roof. The fascia usually follows the eaves, often supporting guttering; a bargeboard follows the sloping edge of a gable. Naming the location makes a roofline enquiry clearer.
A photograph from the front of a house may show both details. Record the part causing concern rather than using one term for every board around the roof.
Look at the connections
The visible board is only part of the repair. At a gable, the relationship with the verge and covering matters. At the eaves, gutter supports, soffits and the roof edge may be relevant.
Tell WWR Roofing whether the issue is peeling finish, visible deterioration, loose material or a related leak. Those observations describe different possible scopes, and appearance alone should not settle which components need replacement.
Clarify what will remain
A proposal should identify the board sections being renewed and the supporting material intended to stay. Where concealed damage cannot yet be assessed, establish how findings will be handled during the work.
If a new finish is being fitted over an existing board, its retained condition needs to be understood. The fascia capping guide explains why covering an old surface is different from replacing it.
Agree the visible finish
Gables can be prominent features, especially where decorative shapes or details are present. Record the profile, colour and extent of the work before materials are ordered. Check relevant permissions where the building is protected.
Our fascias, soffits and guttering service provides the enquiry route. Where the covering at the edge is also affected, read roof verge repairs to keep the roofing and board work connected.
